Well...that's the statement to start off a post with when you haven't posted since May, right? Anyway, that was my subtle apology for forgetting about my blog for a long time...moving on.
Has anyone else realized how stupid the world's view of confidence is? "Hey! Look at this! I took a 'hot' selfie, and dudeeeee. It got like, 80 likes. So hey, that makes me pretty right?"
No. No. No. No. NOOOOO. That is NOT giving you confidence. Thinking about it, I should probably rephrase my statement. Confidence itself isn't stupid, self(ish) confidence is, and so is the world's opinion on true confidence.
Here is a list of things that will NOT make you truly confident:
*That "hot" guy asking for your number (or "cute" girl...cuz you know...girls are more predatory and more likely to be the ones asking guys in today's day and age)
*Wearing a bikini or any other revealing outfit to show off what God gave your husband (note, He did NOT give it to you), just so you can have all the guys looking at you.
*Posting a selfie just so you can feel good about the amount of likes you get. Lets face it, selfiesteem has never really worked, right? See what I did there? Pun pun pun...moving on...
*Making cutting remarks towards yourself just so people will disagree with them and boost your ego. Just for your information, I'm definitely guilty of this, it's something that I need to stop as well. Adding onto that, making cutting remarks about ANYONE to make yourself feel better.
*Being #1, the leader, in front of everyone
*Being popular/liked by many. Jesus didn't have 2,000 followers...he had 12....look how that turned out.
I could go on, but I won't. So if self(ish) confidence doesn't truly make you confident, what really does? Good question bro, good question.
I am now going to go very cliche on you: GOD. I know, I know, you all have been to Sunday school or youth group and heard that. I get it.
But do we TRULY get what that means? Hey. Go pull out your Bible, hopefully you won't have to dust it off. Go take a look at Psalm 139.
How amazing is that? God knows us, he CREATED us. He loves us fanatically even though we are dirty, sinful, broken people. No amount of likes can compare to that.
That's honestly all I have. That was kind of a rant ending in God, but that's ok. Just realize..
